Our vision of providing affordable, quality healthcare has not changed over the years, and our latest development will only strengthen our endeavours, and is entirely consistent with our mission of benefiting Phuket, its citizens and the thousands of tourists who visit us.

Phuket International Hospital began back in 1978 when Dr. Anuroj Tharasiriroj and his wife Dr. Supanee ran a small clinic on Phang-nga Road in Phuket town. Seeing the need for inpatient services and more specialised care in Phuket, Dr. Anuroj and Dr. Supanee decided to expand, and in 1982 they opened Phuket International Hospital, Phuket’s first private hospital. The new facility, known in Thai as ‘Siriroj’ hospital, was located on Krabi Road in the heart of old Phuket town. There were 24 inpatient beds - later expanding to 36. As the first private-sector healthcare facility, the opening of Phuket International Hospital marked a turning point in the health services of Phuket.

In 1993, Phuket International Hospital relocated again. This time, to its present site on the Bypass Road. A 90 bed inpatient facility was constructed with 6 intensive-care units and sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care. At the time, Phuket International Hospital was leading healthcare developments in Phuket.

From humble beginnings until today, Phuket International Hospital has grown and responded to the increasing demand and need for better healthcare, treating over 100,000 patients per year. Phuket International Hospital was the first hospital to treat medical tourists who elected to come to Phuket from all over the world.

The tradition continues, and the opening of our new facility is the latest stage in our continued growth and development and firmly establishes Phuket International Hospital as one of the major private providers of healthcare in the region.
